The Crit Lab, founded by artist Patricia Miranda, offers rigorous, critical, supportive feedback akin to a graduate-level seminar in small ongoing artist groups. Asking ethical and aesthetic questions, we situate artworks in a social context, engage materials in their own language, and preserve the inchoate nature of the creative process.

After five years of offering critiques in my studio and in the studios of other artists simply through word of mouth, the need for more critical discource and community became apparent. The Crit Lab is a supportive forum for exploration and discussion of new, vulnerable, in progress, and experimental works and ideas. The connection and community transcend the Lab. The ongoing, intensive, safe space of the meetings encourages work to flourish and grow in critical depth and perception.

So much amazing work and discussion happens in these groups. I continually look for new ways to support and promote this community of artists, and to open our discussion to a wider audience, while preserving the intimate and private nature of the sessions.

I am always interested in collaboration, building community, supporting and advocating for and with artists. Let's connect and share ideas!
